Statement Paintings

Redecorating-we have been redecorating since we landed in this house 3 and a half years ago. And no matter how far we get with it, we never seem to get everything done at the one time. Bits of this get done, and pieces of that get done, but in the end, something is always in the wrong place, not fitting in or not matching.

It feels sort of the same as trying to get the nine sides of a rubix cube to line up correctly-trying to get our 9 rooms to look somewhat co-ordinated and finished. It is the bane of my life at the moment! Small worries, huh?

With that in mind, I started to look for some affordable statement pieces that would inject a bit of much needed personality into our bland, little rooms.

Here are some of my favourites, with the links for where to buy them.

Leonid Afremov

Rain Princess

Afremov’s paintings are bursting with colour, and will bring character to any room. I like that there is a Deal of the Day link on the web site and there are some stunning pieces for a fraction of their estimated value. It allows ordinary folk, like you and I, to get our hands on a masterpiece. My absolute favourite is this Rain Princess painting.

Lucy H. Pearce

Tribal Woman

This Irish artist’s (from Cork if you will) work is outstanding! The beautiful soft and sensuous visuals really embody what femininity is all about. I love the rainbow layering of colours and the fluidity in the paintings. I want all of these.

Natasha Wescoat

Ballons Sur Paris

I love the use of curves and colours in these acrylics. I particularly love Ballons Sur Paris and La Vie En Rose. They’re so airy, dreamy and free. Beautiful.

Natasha’s work has even been featured on Marley and Me, and ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. She has even written a kids’ book!

With prices ranging from $10-$800, I think I will definitely be hooking myself up with a print or two. Get yours here.

Samantha Payne

This London based artist believes that ‘art need not be complicated’ and this is the belief she translates in her work. She has completed some stunning portraiture work, and my faves are her contemporary animal prints-Tiger, Elephant and Zebra-of course!

Deborah Watkins

This Irish artist has some beautiful land and seascapes in her collection of work. I’ve said it before, you can’t beat the sea for tranquility. See what’s for sale here.

I hope you liked these. Have you guys any suggestions for some beautiful artwork?
