Five Fave Christmas Candles

Happy Saturday everyone!

I hope you’re all having a great weekend. There are so many festive activities going on around the place that it’s hard not to be in the Christmas spirit.

Here’s a post that might be useful for those of you who are keeping up the age old tradition of decorating on December the 8th. We were supposed to be decking the halls and blinging out the branches this weekend, but I’ve somehow managed to put my back out, and I doubt that a heady mix of Difene and Diazepam would result in a well decorated tree 😦 Hopefully, we’ll do it next week instead.

In the meantime, here are my top 5 Christmas candles for 2014. I might not be able for putting stars on tree tops, but I can deffo bask in the candle light 🙂

1) Yankee Candles Christmas Eve & Season of Peace, €13.25
These stunningly scented Christmas candles, with 65-90 hours burn time, are currently half price at http://www.homestoreandmore.ie

Christmas Eve encompasses the traditional Christmas fragrances of sugared plums & candied fruits. It is the quintessential Christmas candle, that will remind you of the comfort of being tucked away indoors by the fire, safe from the winter snow and ice outside.

Season of Peace is quite a contrast to Christmas Eve. It smells cool and enchanting, and the musk blend is clean and crisp, like a winter snowfall. This is perfect if you prefer neutral, fresher scents to sweeter, richer ones.

2) Jo Malone Frosted Cherry & Clove Deluxe Candle, €155, Brown Thomas

It may be a tad on the pricey side, but this is the candle that I most want for Christmas. It comprises ‘sweet and succulent cherries, spicy cloves, comforting cinnamon and sensual amber’ and sounds good enough to eat! This smells divine, but this is hardly surprising coming from the Queen of fragrance design. Maybe Santa might bring me one?!

Max Benjamin Cloves and Cinnamon from Meadows and Byrne is something like Jo Malone’s much sought after candle, but lacks the sweetness of the cherries. It’s still a lovely Christmassy number and costs a mere €19. I’ll take 8 please 😉

3) Meadows and Byrne have another stunning Christmas collection. No surprise there! Their pillar candles always make lovely gifts. Give them with a beautiful, signature Christmas candle holder. I adore the stag collection this year. Beautiful.

The warming red currant candle and wintery green ivy candle are perfect to get you in the Christmas mood. They retail at €8.95 for the small and €14.95 for the large candle.

4) Meadows and Byrne are also stocking the Illuminology Collection by Waterford Crystal, €55.

The collection consists of three different candles; Luma, Chroma and Diama- all of which come in a beautiful Waterford Crystal votive. These are a great gift idea, as the scents are not Christmas specific and they are uber pretty.

As a lover of bubbly, who seldom gets to touch a drop, the Luma, champagne scented candle, gets my vote. The Chroma smells like an infusion of citrus and basil and the Diama is a combination of mint and jasmine. Yum!

5) And last, but by no means least, is this absolute beaut from Newbridge- the Newbridge Snowflake Candle Holder, which costs €35. It’s just sooooo pretty!
